The BC Association of Professional Archaeologists (BCAPA) and SFU Department of Archaeology invite you to a virtual information session on the Heritage Conservation Act Transformation Project (HCATP). Staff from the BC Ministry of Forests will provide a brief overview on the HCATP and its current status, share key findings from Phase 3 engagement (July–November 2025), and an opportunity for Q&A.
The session will be held on March 12, 2026, from 12:30-2:00pm and hosted on Zoom. Registration will be open until Mach 10, 2026.
We encourage you to review the background materials ahead of time on the HCATP website:
- Intended outcomes – learn more about what this project aims to achieve through modernizing the Heritage Conservation Act
- Session Primer – for greater clarity and more detail on certain policy proposals based on what has been heard through engagement to date
- Practical Examples – see how proposed changes could look in real-world scenarios
- FAQs – review answers to some of the commonly asked questions we’ve heard during engagement
Please note: an AI-enabled transcription tool will be used to support accurate notetaking during the session. Transcripts will be reviewed by staff after the session to verify accuracy, and personal or sensitive information will be removed in accordance with applicable privacy requirements.
