Workshop Details:
Whether you are ready to start your journey working in your chosen career as an archaeologist, or you have successfully landed a job as an archaeologist and would like to learn some tips and tricks for improving your existing resume for future job applications, this is the workshop for you. Chris and Emily will walk you through some fun facts about building industry-focused resumes that will increase your chances of grabbing the attention of a potential employer and landing the job in your new career. In addition to resumes, we will also touch on what makes a successful cover letter stand out from an average letter, and the difference between a resume, an academic-focused curriculum vitae (CV), and an industry-focused CV.

Biography of Workshop Facilitators:
Chris Verral has 15 years’ experience in archaeological consulting in BC and is the Treasurer of the BCAPA. He has worked with clients in oil & gas, mining, energy, transportation and infrastructure, water resources, and industrial, commercial, and residential real estate development. He is currently the City of Burnaby's Civic Archaeologist and formerly was manager of WSP Canada Ltd.’s Archaeology and Heritage Group.
Emily Wilkerson is the Vice President of the BCAPA and is also the Director of Archaeology for the Transportation Investment Corporation, a crown corporation responsible for delivering major transportation projects throughout the province. She has been working in cultural resources management for over 20 years, obtained her master’s degree in Anthropology from UBC, and has a specialization in lithic analysis of large data sets.
